Bridge Scoring Calculator

A bridge scoring calculator gives the duplicate score for any contract and any result. Pick the level, the strain, whether it was doubled, the vulnerability and the tricks taken, and the score appears, computed from the same tables the solver uses.

Updated 13 October 2026

Set the five controls and the calculator returns the duplicate score from declarer's side of the table. Most people come here to check one number, usually a doubled contract that went down or a contract that made with overtricks. The result shows that figure together with the pieces it is built from, so you can see where each point came from.

How a made contract is scored

Every trick bid beyond the first six earns trick points. Clubs and diamonds are worth 20 a trick and hearts and spades 30. Notrump pays 40 for the first trick and 30 for each one after. If the trick points for the contract reach 100, it is a game and collects a bonus of 300 not vulnerable or 500 vulnerable. Anything below 100 is a part score and collects 50.

Slams add a second bonus on top of the game bonus. A small slam is worth 500 not vulnerable and 750 vulnerable, a grand slam 1000 and 1500. Take 6♠ vulnerable making twelve tricks. The tricks score 180, the game bonus adds 500 and the slam bonus 750, for 1430 in all.

Doubling multiplies the trick points, and a redouble multiplies them again. That is why 2♥ doubled and made counts as a game. A doubled contract that makes also earns 50 for the insult, a redoubled one 100. Overtricks in a doubled contract are paid at a fixed rate per trick that depends on vulnerability, and the calculator applies it for you.

When the contract fails

A defeated contract scores for the defenders, and the calculator shows it as a minus for declarer. Undoubled, each undertrick costs 50 not vulnerable and 100 vulnerable. Doubled, the price rises as the tricks pile up. The full schedule, one down to seven down, sits in the undertrick penalty table.

Using the result

At duplicate a raw score rarely settles anything by itself. In a teams match the number that counts is the difference from the other table, converted on the IMP table. At pairs it is how your score ranks against every other pair who played the board.

Scoring a few doubled results by hand and then checking them here is a quick way to learn the scoring rules properly. For contracts made exactly, the scoring table lists all of them at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate a bridge score?
Add the trick points for the tricks bid and made, then the bonus for a part score, game or slam. Overtricks, doubles and vulnerability change the total, and the calculator handles every combination.
What does 4♠ making exactly score?
420 not vulnerable and 620 vulnerable. The tricks are worth 120, and the game bonus adds 300 or 500.
Does the calculator use duplicate or rubber scoring?
Duplicate scoring, where every board is scored on its own and part scores do not carry over to the next deal. Rubber bridge adds honors and a rubber bonus, which the calculator leaves out.
Why does a doubled part score sometimes count as a game?
Because doubling doubles the trick points. 2♥ doubled is worth 120 in trick points, which passes 100, so the game bonus applies when it makes.
