BridgeTricks vs Funbridge

Updated 18 October 2026

BridgeTricks is our own product. Every other app is described from its own site and store listing, checked on 18 October 2026.

Funbridge and BridgeTricks are both made for players who want to get better at bridge, and they go about it in different ways. Funbridge lets you play whole deals against robots at any hour and compares your result with everyone who played the same cards. BridgeTricks takes one decision at a time, such as an opening lead or the play of a suit, and grades it over many possible layouts of the cards you cannot see.

How Funbridge works

On Funbridge you sit South, and the Argine robot plays the other three seats. You bid and play the whole deal, then see how your score compares with everyone else who played it. Daily and league tournaments are scored at matchpoints or IMPs, and some count for federation masterpoints.

After each deal, Funbridge shows where you went wrong and lets you replay it. There is also a library of commented deals sorted by topic and level, video masterclasses by top players, a free introduction for beginners and a Minibridge mode. You can play with other people too, at tables or in team championships, but most deals are played with the robots.

Funbridge is made by GOTO Games and has apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, a web version and downloads for Windows and Mac. Its App Store listing has a rating of 4.6 from about 14,000 ratings.

How BridgeTricks works

BridgeTricks breaks the game into single decisions and grades each one against the best play. In the Lead Trainer you see your hand and the auction and pick a lead. The unseen hands are then dealt 4,000 times in ways that fit the auction, and a double dummy solver, a program that finds the best result with all four hands in view, scores every card you could have led over all of them, at IMPs and at matchpoints.

The Suit Trainer covers declarer play in one suit. You play a combination card by card, and the suit solver shows the exact chance of every play, free and without an account. Both trainers have a daily set that is the same for everyone, practice, survival and rush modes, and duels with a rating for each format.

For bidding, you write your system in the Bidding Architect, share it with your partner on Pro or Master, and turn any part of it into flashcards. There are also bidding drills of 100 hands on 46 conventions and systems, free guides and lessons, calculators, a deal generator and simulator and a free double dummy solver for any deal you want to look at.

Free plans and prices

Funbridge gives 2 free deals a day when you log in, and you can save the ones you do not use. New players are offered 100 free deals to start. In the app the plans cost more than on the web. Premium is $17.99 a month on the App Store against $15.99 on funbridge.com.

On BridgeTricks the daily sets and duels are free without a limit, and a free account also gets 3 practice hands and 3 arcade runs a day in each trainer, 7 starter credits for the Bridge Lab, given once, and 500 nodes in the Bidding Architect. Pro raises the daily limits to 10 and Master removes them. Players under 26 can get half price. The same amounts are charged in euros in Europe.

Which one to choose

Pick BridgeTricks if

  • you want to fix one part of your game, such as your opening leads or suit play
  • you want to see the best lead over 4,000 layouts, or the exact odds of every play in a suit
  • you and your partner want to write down and learn your own system
  • you want more free practice each day, or a lower price

Pick Funbridge if

  • you want to play whole deals at any hour
  • you like seeing how your score compares with other players
  • you want tournaments that count for masterpoints
  • you want a full app on your phone, Windows or Mac

The two do different jobs, so you can use both: Funbridge to play whole deals, and BridgeTricks for the decisions you keep getting wrong.

FAQ

Common questions

Short answers to what readers ask most.

Partly. A free account gets 2 deals a day and 1 commented deal a week, with ads. Unlimited deals need Premium, at $15.99 a month or $174.99 a year on the web.
Is BridgeTricks free?
The daily sets, duels, the suit and double dummy solvers, the guides and the calculators are free. A free account also gets 3 practice hands a day in each trainer. Pro costs $7 a month and Master $12 a month.
Can I play against other people on BridgeTricks?
You can duel other players on the same lead or suit problems, but there are no tables where four people play a deal. For that, Funbridge or Bridge Base Online is the place.
Does Funbridge have an opening lead trainer?
No. You lead when you defend in normal play, but there is no mode for practicing leads on their own. BridgeTricks has the Lead Trainer for that.
