BridgeTricks vs NeuralPlay Bridge

Updated 20 October 2026

BridgeTricks is our own product. Every other app is described from its own site and store listing, checked on 20 October 2026.

Bridge by NeuralPlay is a card game app where you bid and play whole deals with computer partners and opponents, on a phone or tablet and even without an internet connection. BridgeTricks is a training site that picks out single decisions, such as an opening lead or the play of a suit, and grades your choice against the best play over the cards you cannot see.

How NeuralPlay works

Bridge by NeuralPlay is made by NeuralPlay, LLC, which also makes apps for a dozen other card games. You choose your seat and the computer players take the other three. There are six levels of play. The first follows simple rules. The higher levels deal out many possible layouts of the hidden cards and check them with double dummy analysis before they choose a card. The more layouts they look at, the better they play, though the top level can be slower on some devices.

You can play rubber bridge, Chicago or Duplicate Teams, where computers play the same board at a second table and the difference is scored in IMPs. There is also a Daily Matchpoint game scored against other players. Bidding Practice lets you bid a deal without playing it and then shows the contract the computers reached. You can tap any bid to see what it means, ask for a hint, and after the hand see the par contract and the best line of play with all four hands in view.

The app also lets you set up your own deals by points and shape, place every card yourself, and save or load deals as PBN files. The App Store listing has a rating of 4.6 from about 7,000 ratings, and Google Play shows 4.3 from about 21,400 reviews and more than a million downloads.

How BridgeTricks works

BridgeTricks does not deal you a full game against computers. It takes the decisions players most often get wrong and turns each one into a puzzle with a graded answer. In the Lead Trainer you see your hand and the auction and choose a lead. The hidden hands are then dealt 4,000 times in ways that match the bidding, and every card you could have led is scored over all of those layouts, at IMPs and at matchpoints.

The Suit Trainer does the same for declarer play in a single suit, graded by an exact suit solver, and the suit solver itself is free to use without an account. Both trainers have a daily set that everyone plays, practice, survival and rush modes, and duels against other players with a rating for each format.

For bidding, you write your own system in the Bidding Architect, share it with your partner on Pro or Master, and learn it with flashcards. There are also bidding drills of 100 hands on 46 conventions and systems, and a free double dummy solver for any deal you enter by hand. BridgeTricks has no bidding against computers, and no live bidding with a partner.

Free plans and prices

NeuralPlay gives you the full game for free and pays for it with ads. A single purchase of $12.99 on the App Store or Google Play takes the ads away, and neither store lists a subscription.

BridgeTricks keeps the daily sets, duels, the solvers, the guides and the lessons free. A free account also gets 3 practice hands and 3 arcade runs a day in each trainer, 500 nodes in the Bidding Architect and 7 starter credits for the Bridge Lab, given once. Pro raises the daily limits to 10 and Master removes them. Players under 26 can get half price, and the same amounts are charged in euros in Europe.

  • you want to bid and play whole deals at any hour, alone
  • you want to play without an internet connection

Many players will find a use for both. NeuralPlay gives you deals to play whenever you like, and BridgeTricks helps with the leads, suit plays and bidding you want to get right more often.
